What should I do if my rental Pocket Wi-Fi is slow?

Genki Mobile’s Pocket Wi-Fi speed can be affected by settings or daily data usage. If your connection feels slow, please try the following steps.

First, check whether the mobile data function on the device is turned on:

  • Open the Settings menu on the Pocket Wi-Fi
  • Scroll to WAN Settings
  • Check the LTE/3G option
  • If it is set to OFF, turn it back ON to restore the connection

If the device is on but speeds are still slow, you may have reached the daily data limit under the fair usage policy:

  • 1GB/day plan: speed reduced to 200 kbps after the limit
  • 7GB/day plan: speed reduced to 128 kbps after the limit
  • Speeds automatically reset at midnight (Japan time)

You can check your daily data usage here using your Wi-Fi password printed on your device.

For general connection issues, try restarting the device by pressing and holding the power button. A reboot often resolves temporary issues.

If the problem continues, please contact us via our Contact form. We will assist you and arrange a replacement device as quickly as possible if needed.
